Benefits of Training

Knowledge is Power

First and foremost, our mission is to educate you and give you the tools you need to attain a lifetime of fitness. We believe that physical wellness is the cornerstone of overall well-being, and should not be left to the luck of your genetic draw. No matter who you are, or where you are at physically, you can improve. Training at The Summit offers four key benefits:

Repair Your Body

Many of our guests first arrive at the gym in some state of chronic injury. Whether through poor form or just "wear-and-tear," gravity has done a job on them, and left them injured and carrying the types of imbalances that increase their chances of future injury. This injury cycle can impact not only their athletic performance, but the level of energy and enjoyment they get from day-to-day life. After all, who wants to go hiking or window-shopping dragging a bum knee? We won’t take the place of your physical therapist, but the exercises available to you at The Summit can help you attain a place of balanced strength and prevent future injuries.

Our trainers are all atheletes first, and have a comprehensive understanding of the needs of your sport, whether you are an aspiring pro, a weekend warrior, or just want to wake up each day pain-free.

Build Functional Strength

“Functional Strength” is a term that has been around for many years but has gained popularity recently. It is defined as follows:

Functional strength training involves performing work against resistance in such a manner that the improvements in strength directly enhance the performance of all movements, so that an individual’s activities of daily living are easier to perform.

The primary goal of functional training is to transfer the improvements in strength achieved through one movement to enhancing the performance of another movement by affecting the entire neuromuscular system. This type of strength training isn’t just for atheletes – we ALL need functional strength. Our goal is to be structurally balanced and strong through movements that we encounter in everyday life (i.e. picking up your grand-babies, putting on your shoes, reaching for that box on the high shelf in the closet).

The Summit is fully equipped with machines and equipment that build this strength for everyday life. Our class schedule is focused on this form of training. The classes range from olympic boxing, MMA-style kickboxing, boot camps, and strongman training. From the infamous prowler, to the TRX training systems, to the full line of dumbbells (3lbs-125lbs) we have the capability to help you not only live longer but better and stronger.

Get lean

The muscle you’ll develop training at The Summit is "calorically-expensive tissue." Your body requires more calories to maintain lean muscle mass, as well as fuel the growth associated with training. This, in turn, reduces the amount of calories available for storage in your spare tire or saddle bags.

Even better for your "under you," strength training will increase your metabolism, meaning you will burn more calories even when you are inactive. As you gain muscle density, your body gains a bigger "engine" to burn calories more efficiently — which can result in weight loss. If cardio is part of your program, gaining balanced, explosive strength will help you go harder and longer on your work days.

The Summit also has on-site massage, ART massage and infrared saunas that can help speed up your recovery and super-charge your new high-speed metabolism.

If you are serious about losing weight and keeping it off, then get in to the gym for your free tour and let one of our trainers help craft a training regime. Don’t your abs deserve to see the light of day?

Turn Back Time

As we age, we begin to lose flexibility, strength and cardiovascular fitness. Bone density decreases, as does balance, coordination and stamina. It’s a well-documented fact that exercising with weight-resisted movements increases bone density and muscle tissue, which can restore the mobility, flexibility and strength of our youth.

With this in mind, we help all of our members turn back the hands of time by offering every new member of The Summit a free one hour training session with a certified personal trainer from Next Level Sports & Performance. Taking it further, to enhance members experience and goal attainment, this one-hour session will explain a 6-week training program design to start their membership at The Summit with structural balance. This is to ensure a reduced risk of injury and an efficient approach in reaching your health goals!
